Just like many volunteers, I first started with the group when my son’s Beaver section were looking for additional help! I have been a part of 1st Aylesbury since 2009, with Beavers for over a decade and then l had the fun of building a team of volunteers to open the first Squirrel Drey in Aylesbury in 2022.

My current role is all about providing direction and support to develop our group and ensure its sustainability. I’m enjoying every minute and proud that I’m helping to create opportunities for young people and adults in my community.

We’re always looking for additional people to join us as we prepare young people with skills for life, if you’d like to how, email me on [email protected]

A little fact you might not know, I’m an avid crocheter and part of a local yarn bombing group!                                                               Sarah Ashbourn-Stacey (aka Kingfisher)

Fundraising 2024

We are extremely fortunate to have a team of highly dedicated leaders who ensure our young people can take part in a range of fun – filled activities throughout the year.  We are also very lucky to have a safe and secure building for our sections to meet in. However, doing these activities and maintaining our scout building does come at a cost. Last year we set up a Fundraising Team compromising of parents and leaders to organise events to raise much needed funds for the group.  In March we raised over £400 at our Easter Bingo Night and over the Christmas period we raised £1000 packing bags, singing carols and selling crafts made by our young people. We hope Fundraising in 2025 will be even better with activities already being planned Bingo (see below) and bag packing / carol singing at Waitrose Aylesbury on Saturday 13th December. We look forward to seeing you there.

Family Bingo inc. Annual Review + AGM

Friday 23rd May 6:00 – 8:30pm

Lots of fun including Bingo, a bottle tombola for the adults and a sweet tombola for the children. There will also be a Pop-Up shop to buy scouting merchandise.  The evening will also see the sections announce their Young Person of the Year as well our AGM.

Scout Centre Refurbishments

You may have noticed the changes that took place in the latter part of 2024. We were extremely lucky to have secured a grant to transform our toilet facilities and we have employed a gardener to maintain our outside area. All of our young people have benefitted from these massive improvements.

Casual Uniform

AI-generated content may be incorrect. We’re delighted to launch our range of informal group branded clothing. The polo shirts and t-shirts are a cheaper alternative to the sectional polo shirts for Squirrels, Beavers and Cubs and can be worn when they move up through the sections. Scouts can wear these items for sessions as long as they wear their scout shirts for flag ceremonies at the start and the end of the sessions.

We place orders with our supplier twice per term so there can be a short wait if we do not have your size in stock. You will be contacted by email when your order is ready for collection.
